Booking and paying

How do I rent a car?

Four steps, all on your phone:

  1. Choose where you’ll pick up and return the car, and when.
  2. Pick the car you like: what you see in the photos is what you get.
  3. Book it, paying for the rental and the refundable deposit.
  4. Walk up to the car at the marked spot, tap “Unlock” in your account and follow the steps.
What do I need to rent a car?

A valid driving licence and a Sigvi account. The first time, you scan your licence when we ask you to confirm who you are. You only do this once.

When do I pay?

You pay for the whole trip before it starts. After the rental we send an invoice based on the car’s own data.

If something on the invoice looks wrong, tell us within 2 working days.

Is there a deposit?

Yes, a refundable deposit of 200 EUR, paid when you book together with the rental.

Can I extend my rental?

Yes. Get in touch before the rental ends and pay for the extra time. Returning the car late without extending costs a 50 EUR fine plus the extra time.

What if my car isn’t available when I arrive?

Before your rental starts we may replace the car you booked with a similar one, for example if it broke down. If no car is available at your pick-up point at the time you booked, you get back everything you paid in advance.

Pick-up and return

How do I unlock the car?

From your account, no earlier than the start of your rental. Follow the steps on your phone. The key and the car’s documents are inside the car.

What should I check before I drive off?

Walk around the car and take photos of all four sides and the inside with the app. Check the tyres. If you see damage or something is missing, tell us before you drive: anything not reported is treated as happening during your rental.

Can I return the car somewhere else?

Yes. The parking zone where you return the car can differ from the one where you picked it up. Choose “Return it somewhere else” when you search.

How do I return the car?

Park it in the return zone, legally. Leave the key and the documents inside, close the windows, engage the handbrake, then lock the car and take the return photos in the app.

What about fuel and cleaning?

You get the car with a full tank, clean inside and out. Bring it back the same way. If it comes back much dirtier than normal use, the cleaning is charged.

On the road

Can I drive abroad?

Yes. Tick “abroad” when you book. Trips abroad are priced differently, and the kilometres are unlimited across the EU.

Is there a kilometre limit?

No. The kilometres are unlimited across the EU.

Who can drive the car?

Only you, the person who booked it. Handing the wheel to someone else isn’t allowed, and protection doesn’t cover a driver who isn’t registered in a Sigvi account.

Can I smoke in the car?

No. All Sigvi cars are non-smoking.

What if the car breaks down?

Stop driving, call us at any hour on +370 660 99 911 and follow our instructions. What happens next depends on whether you chose road assistance or a protection package when you booked.

What should I do after an accident?

Make sure everyone is safe, then tell us and the police or other services straight away, and fill in the accident report form. Don’t keep driving if the car may not be safe.

Who pays traffic and parking fines?

The driver. Fines from the rental period are passed on to you, with an administration fee for handling them (see the terms).

Protection packages

What does every rental include?

Compulsory third-party liability insurance, which covers damage to other people and their property, and our support team around the clock. If someone else causes an accident and is known, we handle the claim through their insurance.

Which protection packages can I choose?

Four, in the booking window. Road assistance gets a technician to you, or tows the car, in Lithuania and abroad where possible. It doesn’t cover damage to the car.

Basic, Medium and Full protection add road assistance, a replacement car if a repair takes more than 24 hours, and a cap on what you pay for damage: your excess. The excess is 990 € with Basic, 390 € with Medium and 90 € with Full protection.

What is the excess?

The most you pay yourself if the car is damaged. Everything above it is covered by your package, as long as you keep to the rental terms. Without a package you pay the full cost of damage you cause.

When does protection not apply?

If the driver was under the influence of alcohol or drugs, went more than 20 km/h over the limit, caused the damage deliberately or through gross negligence, ignored warning lights, used the wrong fuel, left the scene of an accident, or let someone not registered in a Sigvi account drive. Then you pay the full damage, whatever package you chose.

How much does a package cost?

It’s charged per day and depends on the car, the length of the rental and whether you’re going abroad. You see the exact price in the booking window before you confirm.

Replacement car after an accident

My car was damaged and it wasn’t my fault. Do I get a replacement car?

Often, yes: the at-fault driver’s insurer should cover a replacement car, or what you pay to rent one, while yours is repaired.

What does Sigvi need from me?

The details of the accident and the insurance claim number. We deal with the insurer directly.

Terms and payouts

Does the car need extra insurance?

By law the car must have third-party liability insurance that covers rental. We also recommend comprehensive (KASKO) cover. Ask us and we’ll explain how to insure the car with our insurance partners on the best terms, and which cover to choose.

What if the car is damaged? How does Sigvi help?

The damage is paid for by the renter or the insurance. You don’t have to deal with any of it: Sigvi handles it for you.

Where will the car be driven?

In Lithuania, and in the European Union if you agree to it.

How do I get paid?

Every month we transfer the rental income to your bank account, minus the Sigvi fee and any other costs.

How much can I expect to earn?

The examples above give a first idea. Income depends on the model and its equipment, so we make you a personal offer once we have the details.

Who pays traffic fines and other penalties?

Traffic offences, other fines and insurance claims are the renter’s responsibility. Sigvi manages all of it, so you don’t have to.

Can I use my car when I need it?

Yes. Book your own car when it’s free, and pay only a small service fee.

Do you take company cars?

Yes, cars owned by companies and by private people.

The car and renters

Can I see where my car is and how fast it’s going?

Data protection rules don’t let us show owners where the car is in real time. The platform sees it all the time, and when needed we can give you the full record of the route, speeding and so on.

Who services the car?

Sigvi takes care of servicing at an authorised workshop, paid from the income the car earns. Every job comes with the original invoice, and after years of working together we get good discounts and reliable suppliers.

Which documents stay in the car?

The registration certificate, the insurance and the technical inspection report.

How are renters checked?

We verify every renter’s identity before they can register. The cars carry tracking equipment, so we see where the car goes. If the platform spots speeding, we contact the renter straight away to prevent any damage.

Getting started

How long should I rent my car out for?

The car will be driven more than usual and may need servicing more often. We recommend 12 months: long enough to see a positive income balance and the ups and downs of the market.

How does the car get to Sigvi?
  1. Fill in the form below.
  2. We send you an earnings estimate and the contract to read.
  3. We agree on a time to meet at the workshop and check the car.
  4. We sign the contract and your car goes to work.
